News & Updates

Conversations TONIGHT!

Come join us TONIGHT for our Fall Conversations! Every Wednesday for Conversations we have a church-wide meal from 6:00–6:30 PM. Children and Students have a Wednesday Night Program from 6:30-7:45 PM and the Adults have Conversations from 6:45-7:45 PM. This Fall Semester for Conversations our series is called “Gifts: Avenues for Enjoying God or Detours into Idolatry.” How are we to navigate the good gifts that we find in this world? For while these gifts are good, it doesn’t take much for our human heart to twist them into an idol to be worshipped. So what are we to do with these gifts? Reject them? Use them? Ignore them? Enjoy them? Look at them with suspicion? Feel guilty about them? Join us on Wednesdays as we discover how to navigate the gifts that God gives us!

Join us Monday, December 24th, for Our Christmas Eve Services

We will have three Christmas Eve services in the Sanctuary. The first is guitar-led at 3:30 PM while the 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM are traditional in style. Come join us for this special candlelight event that gives us a final opportunity to reflect upon the gift of Christ before Christmas morning.

Christmas Caroling Save the Date

Please join us on Sunday, December 9th from 5-7 PM for Christmas Caroling! This is a great time of fellowship, fun, and singing where we visit members of our church and sing Christmas Carols. Afterward, we meet back at the Fellowship Hall for cookies and Hot Chocolate. This is for adults, students, and children. Please know you don’t have to be skilled in singing to come and participate in the festivities!

Gashland Cookbooks for Sale!

Need a Christmas gift idea? How about a GEPC cookbook! This hardcover cookbook is loaded with recipes from our own GEPC people. All proceeds go directly to the Mercy Fund. Books are available for purchase in the lobby after both services on December 9th and 16th and in the office during the week.

Financial Update

1 Peter 4:10 – As each has received a gift, use it to serve another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
Our financial position as of our last report (October 31, 2018) finds us with total revenue of $636,673 and total expenses of $688,160. We currently have a YTD loss of $51,486. We have faith that some of that deficit will be decreased by end of year giving which is traditionally strong. That being said, on our current trajectory, it appears that without a final effort we will run short. We hope that you will consider a gift beyond your normal, regular giving to help Gashland continue to fulfill God’s call on our church. Your giving supports our children’s and student ministries, missionaries, music, facility cleaning, facility maintenance (roof replacement) and the vision we believe God has for us. Thank you for your consideration.
Faithfully, The Gashland Finance Team

Offering | Treasure 2019

Over the past weeks we have been turning in the “Offering of Our Treasure” cards. In the past these have been known as Stewardship Cards or Pledge Cards. This is an important element of what our leadership uses to plan for next year’s ministry and budget. If you would like to turn in a card you can grab one from the back and turn it in during the offering, or CLICK HERE and fill out a form online.

Service Opportunity & Donation

December Mission Collection for City Union Mission

Each bag should contain the following items for a Family of 4: Instant Potatoes*1 large 16 oz box, Gravy Mix*2 packets, Marshmallows*1 small bag, Cranberry Sauce*1 can, Pie Crust Mix*1 box, Stuffing Mix*2 boxes, Yams*2-15 oz. cans, Green Beans*2-14 oz. cans, Pie Filling*1-15 oz. can, Crystal Light Drink Mix*1 package, *a prayer card for the family, or donate a few items from the list for making additional bags. Collection of these bags and items will be in the lobby by office after 1st service and Ministry Center lobby after 2nd Service for 2 Sundays only! Thanks!

Twelve Families of Christmas — Gifts Due!

Thank you to everyone who participated in serving our neighbors…Gashland Elementary School…by picking an ornament from the “Needs” and “Wants” trees. We had many more willing volunteers than gifts to provide exemplifying the abundant generosity of our congregation. As a reminder, all wrapped gifts are due on Sunday, December 9th, so they can be delivered on the 10th to the school. Please be sure to attach the ornament to the gift so that the school can match them to the correct child. Thank you again for providing a special Christmas to the children of Gashland!

Operation Christmas Child

Thank you! We gave 192 boxes this year to Operation Christmas Child. Your generosity is amazing. We are however $360.00 short on postage expense for these boxes. If you want to help with this expense, please write your check to GEPC, noting OCC postage on the memo line. Please continue praying for the children who will receive these boxes and for those who will be involved in delivering them.

December’s Books of the Month

The first is “Come, Let Us Adore Him” by Paul Tripp. The second devotional available is “The One True Story: Daily Readings for Advent from Genesis to Jesus” by Tim Chester.
